Be Loving

Wisdom Wednesday:  Be Loving!

“You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.  This is the greatest and first commandment.  The second, like it, its this: You must love your neighbor as yourself.   On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”

Loving:  Feeling or showing love or great care.  Love:  An intense feeling of deep affection.

Isn’t this amazing that Jesus said the second commandment is to Love your neighbor as yourself?!  Love is not just an emotion we can show our family and friends.  We can and should express love to everyone we meet.

Yesterday we talked about using connections to create your art.  Well you can’t find a connection with your client if you don’t truly love them as your neighbor.  You need to feel affection for them: As a human being.  As a friend.  As a parent.

Your clients already love their children and their spouses and family members.  But as a photographer you could be a perfect stranger coming to photograph them.  How are you going to get them to naturally behave as they would if you weren’t around?  The only way is to treat them with genuine love and respect.  This cannot be forced.  You have to be the kind of person who really cares about people in general and show that to others.  Why are you there to begin with? You truly want to create priceless, timeless photographic art for them and their loved ones. In order to even want that for them you already have a love for them.  You just need to show it.  People can feel a fake.  Be real.  Be true.  Be honest.  Be LOVING.

When you feel this love for all of the people around you especially those in your every day world, family, friends, and clients alike, you will allow an opportunity for others to show love back to you and to each other.  Then, and only then, will  you capture Love in the form of art

“The force of love has no opposite.  There is no other power in life but love.  All the negative things you see in the world are always, always a lack of love.”  Rhonda Byrne, Author of The Secret & The Power
